Read More »uPVC windows and doors are on the rise in popularity. In some companies you will only find uPVC, rather than a range of options. This material is becoming so common that it will likely be in most doors in the near future and for good reason. These doors are sturdy and reliable and come in a variety of designs to suit your home decor. You’ve likely heard of PVC, or polyvinyl chloride, but have you heard of uPVC? PVC is often used in pipes and similar products that need to be somewhat flexible. Regular PVC contains plasticisers to keep it flexible. These include BPA and phthalates. However, uPVC is unplasticised (which is what the u stands for) and is also referred to as rigid plastic. Overall, uPVC is a better material for construction and for that reason, it’s used for everything from railings to sidings and sewer pipes. However, it’s particularly useful for making doors and windows.
