This can get a bit complicated, like most legal cases, but currently the latest update to the Go Fund Me page requires SCP contributors and fans to write/write formal legal testimonial letters. I did a quick one at work today that basically said that SCP is a community-driven entity and that this random guy is not allowed to try a trademark. The Go Fund Me page has almost all the context you need, but from what I understand, a guy named Andrey Duskin illegally registered a trademark for SCP and basically claimed the trademark and everything for himself and tried to profit from it. I`m pretty sure he benefited a little bit. Duksin is now threatening to shut down SCP-RU`s website. Over the past six months, SCP`s U.S. and Russian administrators have tried in vain to negotiate and cooperate with Rospatent to dissolve the illegitimate brand. This must lead the U.S. administration team to take legal action, and they need help. At the time of writing, a legal fund had been established. Although it has achieved its goal, it is unclear how expensive the trial will be. This may not seem so important outside of Russia. After all, the Duskin brand doesn`t extend beyond this country, does it? Well, that`s the problem. If not verified, Duskin`s trademark could indeed affect SCP outside Russia. If he was able to legally delete entire pages of works for SCP, it means that Russian contributors to the site can no longer share, which hurts SCP`s main appeal: that any author, regardless of status or connection to the work, can collaborate. The anticipated dispute over the SCP trademark could also lead to a further split over the Creative Commons copyright license as a concept. If someone can just register a trademark and then own what doesn`t belong to them by default, what`s stopping them from doing so with any other Creative Commons licensed work? The whole affair has profound implications that could most likely remove this important cultural icon from the internet. You can read all about it about Legal Fund fundraising You can support the CPS fandom by spreading the word with #StandWithSCPRU or by donating to the Legal Fund. SCP is the largest shared online universe. It is also on the brink of destruction thanks to a legal attack. Here`s what you need to know. A few months ago, Duskin filed a trademark for SCP after trying to sell labor-based goods. It is allowed to do so, but it has used its trademark to intimidate and suppress potential competition. While the situation seemed resolved for some time, things have since worsened. More than two months ago, Duskin used its trademark to remove and shut down the legitimate Russian branch of the SCP Foundation. The main site couldn`t do much about it, as Duskin`s legal status gives him a breath of legitimacy in Russia. SCP is licensed under a Creative Commons copyright license. A CC license allows people other than the author to share, use, and build a creative work for free and without legal consequences. With this license, anyone can create products from the SCP brand. For this reason, SCP Containment Breach not only exists, but is also just one of many games related to SCP. In short, if you wanted to tell a story in the SCP universe, you could now. This is one of the many reasons why this universe has grown so much in such a short time. SCP Reddit reported shortly after the release of Markiplier`s video that legal documents had finally been submitted to Russia`s Federal Antimonopoly Service.

Read More »This means that the real battle begins now: the legal battle over Duskin`s trademark. The results might have an international ripple effect on Creative Commons, but more than that, it will decide the fate of the SCP community as a whole. RELATED: Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Launch Trailer Brings Zombies to New Orleans The Empire Dies in Apple TV + Adaptation of Isaac Asimov`s “Foundation” [Trailer] It`s time to get out the pen and paper and write down some memories. Disclaimer: Bloody-Disgusting.com operates two shows under the Creative Commons 3.0 license. I act as showrunner on our show, SCP Archives, which uses many articles and stories from the SCP wiki. The SCP Foundation was founded in 2008 and has since grown into one of the largest online writing communities. The SCP wiki describes several fantastic and sometimes horrible entities gathered and catalogued in the Foundation. The Foundation`s goal in the universe is to contain these sometimes dangerous and sometimes confusing entities for public safety. Duksin revealed that he was the owner of the brand after a fan-run merchandise store was launched by Russian social media site VK. Fans had posted in a VK group via a link to the blocked store, Duksin writes: “As far as I can see, 20+ people sent their money, at least 30,000 rubles [~$500] as advance payment for their merch boxes,” urging customers to file a police report for fraud. Later, Duksin reveals that a year ago, he paid 100,000 rubles (~$1400) to register the SCP Foundation`s trademark, and “. We contacted these guys and offered to coordinate our actions. They told me to piss me off. In return, I contacted vk.com administrators and threw this outta vk group. Six months ago, it was reported that a Russian, Andrey Duksin, was exploiting the trademark standards of the Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property and protecting the name and logo of the SCP Foundation within the Russian Federation and the Eurasian Customs Union. Duksin defended this action, stating, “[He] puts a lot of money into promoting the universe and creating media content (art, books, table games, etc.), I had to make sure that no one jumped in and took advantage of the PR that I do.” Because in this case, I lose the resource to recover my own investments. Duksin continues, “It doesn`t matter to the community, because I`ve always supported the community`s decisions. Tip: address her as “Lyudmila Alexeyevna”, not “Mrs. Novoselova”! The typical form of polite address in Russian is the first name plus the father`s name (second name). In an article in the near future, I will explore the SCP universe in depth, but for now, I will give you a brief summary. The SCP Foundation is a collaborative wiki site where multiple members create story files about fictional anomalies.
