Can my Neighbour record me in my garden?

Simply put, it is illegal to record someone on their private property in any way. So, if you do want to take further steps to prevent your neighbour from recording you, you are well within your rights to do so.

Noise is one of the most common neighbour disputes in the UK. It can take many forms, from neighbours playing music late into the night or early in the morning to excessive amounts of noise throughout the day. But what does unreasonable noise actually mean?

Loud noise before 7 am or after 11 pm

Noise at an inappropriate volume at any time (including loud music and other household noises) Of course, some amount of household noise from your neighbours is unavoidable. But, if it’s constant or excessive, it can quickly become a problem that feels inescapable. At this point, you may want to think about steps you can take to resolve it. But what can you do about noisy neighbours? Firstly, if your neighbour is a tenant living in a rented property and you know who their landlord is, you can contact their landlord about the noise and ask them to attempt to resolve it on your behalf. However, if this doesn’t work, or they are not a tenant, and the noise persists, there are other things you can do. It’s a good idea to keep a written log of the unacceptable noise they are making. It could provide helpful evidence for you in the future. In the log, you should include details such as the time of the incident, how long it goes on for, what is happening, and how it affects you. You may also want to speak to other neighbours to find out if the noise also affects them. If the noise is an ongoing problem, you can contact your local authorities with a complaint. These authorities have to investigate noise complaints and have several powers to resolve them. Upon being contacted with a noise complaint, the local authority will appoint an Environmental Health Officer (EHO) to investigate. If the EHO deems the noise to be a statutory nuisance (meaning that it interferes with the use or enjoyment of a home or other premises, it is injuring health, or is likely to injure health). In that case, they can order that the owner ceases or controls the noise. If this order is not obeyed, the offending neighbour can be issued with fines and penalties. While noisy neighbours can be very frustrating, it is never a good idea to retaliate by making noise designed to annoy them back. This sort of situation can quickly get out of hand or turn hostile. And, the local authorities will be less likely to help you resolve the situation if both sides are at fault. The best thing to do is keep a written log and go through the appropriate channels to help fix this kind of neighbour dispute.

How thick should shed windows be?

When selecting your shed or summerhouse window panes we recommend a minimum gauge of 3mm for adequate rigidity. This is becasue some customers have told us 2mm thick polycarbonate can be 'too bendy' particularly on larger panel sizes.

Number of Holes

Please enter how many holes you would like drilling.

Location - If you order standard holes we will drill 5mm holes centred 25mm from the edges in each corner or evenly spaced (depending on how many you order) unless you tell us otherwise. For panels 150mm wide or less the holes will be centred 15mm from the edge of the material unless you tell us otherwise. To avoid compromising the material, holes cannot be centred any closer to the edge than 15mm. If you order less than four holes please tell us where you would like them drilled. Size - we drill holes to a maximum diameter of 20mm. If you need anything above this size please order it as as 'Cut-Out'. Giving Us Instructions - you can specify your hole diameter and location as you checkout. Please provide your instructions in our 'Special Comments’ box which you will see before you pay for your order. Alternatively, if you have a drawing you can upload it and attach it with your order.

That’s it. If we have any question’s we’ll be in touch. Thanks.
