Here in the UK, we have to contend with cold weather almost daily, especially now that we’re well into autumn with winter on our doorstep. Soon enough, we’ll be powering the heating continuously to remain comfortable indoors, which could hurt our wallets, the environment and our boilers. If you want to minimise your dependency on central heating, you need to bolster your home’s floor and wall insulation. Thick doors and double-glazed windows can help you become much less reliant on heating, but heat can transfer through just about any solid structure, including your walls and floors. Wall and floor insulation minimises heat transfer to keep your abode toasty, and provided you install a high-quality product, you could make your home a safer place to live in the process. Here at SuperFOIL, we manufacture and supply the highest performance multi foil insulation in the UK and EU, and even though we’re headquartered in Norwell near Newark-on-Trent, we have a nationwide network of distributors that have earned our seal of approval. Our products rival even the highest quality fibreglass and foam insulation products because they effectively minimise heat transfer, don’t contain any harmful materials. Below, we’ve detailed the benefits of super foil insulation in more detail.

The exposed fiberglass insulation is fire code in most states. There can be no paper on any insulation that is not covered with wall board, in case of a fire. Fiberglass insulation will not degrade unless exposed to water. The fiber could become airborne if a vent is blowing on it or it is disturbed in some way. It can be covered with a plastic vapor barrier to protect your home air quality. It is important to note that if your house has a vapor barrier on the outside of the house and it is not semi-permeable like a Tyvek or Typar housewrap, you could be trapping vapor between your walls. An example of a vapor barrier that is not semi-permeable is black felt paper, also referred to as tar paper. It would be smart to investigate what type of vapor barrier exists on the outside of your house (if any) before putting up the plastic. The plastic can be bought at any big box store. It should be clear and at least 4 millimeters thick. If the plastic vapor barrier is sealed properly, this will also help with air infiltration into the house, lowering energy costs.
On average, standard conservatory foundations (with no obstructions) should be at least a metre (1,000mm) deep for a small lean-to, or 1500mm for a...
