EcoTec FloorFoam is ideal for this type of application as it is designed to increase Insulation below Carpet, Wood, Laminate and Vinyl Floors. It has a Built in Vapour Control Layer which effectively stops draughts and any form of damp rising into your room. It also provides additional sound proofing between floors too. FloorFoam is made from 4mm of High Density polyester foam with a Highly Reflective True Aluminium Foil on either side. Ecohome-Insulation are the leading UK & European distributor of Multifoil Insulation products. We offer free next working day delivery to the UK Mainland (On Orders placed before 2pm – Orders over £100 + VAT) If installing a Vinyl floor, we recommend to install a think plywood of 3-4mm thick over the FloorFoam, this will give the Vinyl a completely solid ground to sit on as per the manufacturers recommendations. Finally, you can now put down your carpet or laminate flooring and enjoy your warm, draught free living space! If you are laying a carpet, you can then proceed to fix into place the grippers on top of the FloorFoam (this will not affect its performance). Once done, you can now proceed to lay your flooring underlay and cut directly into place on top of the FloorFoam. Once you've installed your FloorFoam and sealed to the flooring, then proceed with taping the perimeter and butt joints with ThermaSeal Joining Tape. This will prevent moisture and draughts from rising through the floor. Proceed with your second layer of Floor Foam, ensure it is butt jointed next to the first layer, it is important not to overlap the material. Repeat this step as required. Staple all the way around the FloorFoam that you have just put down with a Heavy Duty Staple Gun Kit. Trim around the edges for a neat finish. If the floor is concrete, this can be fixed down with a non-solvent adhesive or double sided tape. Roll out your EcoTec FloorFoam to the appropriate length before cutting with scissors or a sharp blade. Cut where necessary for any radiator pipes. This is where and how to start: Find out if you have gaps between your floorboards. Look for gaps between your skirting board and your floorboards.
But wooden floorboards can let a lot of air leak through and significantly decrease the thermal comfort factor in your home. During long wet, cold and / or high humidity periods, mould, mildew and moisture can enter your home making it unhealthy for family members. The space underneath your floor can stay wet for a long time when there has been a lot of rain. The air can become stagnant allowing toxins into your home. This can potentially create an unhealthy internal environment in your home.
