Four different ways to increase your home’s value.

How home improvements can improve your quality of life.

If you are ready for a new deck, a new sunroom, or new windows, check out the products we have to offer! When you want to make a major change to your home in terms of renovations, you want to consider the following questions:

Will this improvement increase my home’s value? Will this improvement make my home more pleasant and accessible?

If you answer yes to both questions, then it’s likely an improvement worth having. One thing you need to watch out for is making overly personal improvements if there is even the slightest chance that you will want to sell the house in the future. Even if you plan on living in the house for the rest of your life, you may want to consider what your heirs will be doing with the property. You may think installing cat friendly walkways throughout your home is simply the cat’s meow, but this “improvement” is unlikely to appeal to the majority of potential buyers. This is simply something to consider. The following improvements can increase your home’s value and curb appeal. Most importantly they will make your home a more enjoyable place for you and your family.

1. Windows

Replacing your home’s windows yourself can be difficult and costly, so you may find that contracting a window company can be tremendously valuable. (Less mess, proper installation and warranties are benefits.) And when it comes to the amount of time and mess involved, it’s one of the less stressful renovations you can choose. If you currently have aluminum windows, try upgrading to vinyl windows instead. These windows are more energy-efficient and attractive. Vinyl windows are also easier to maintain and clean than aluminum or wood windows. This improvement increases your home’s value while also lowering your heating and cooling costs. While you’re replacing windows, why not add a bay or bow window? These windows create additional interior space and aesthetic value. An added bonus: bow and bay windows allow for a window seat or extra storage compartments.

For more information on what to look for in replacement windows, see the Stanek Windows buyers guide. Sunrooms can be a wonderful addition to your home — the extra light brightens any space, and each sunroom can be customized to your home’s style. With a sunroom, you can enjoy natural light and a view while remaining inside and protected from the weather. Additionally, a sunroom or all-season room will add square footage and increase the living space of your home, unlike uncovered patios. Adding a sunroom for additional space can be much more cost-effective than a traditional addition. Furthermore, it usually takes less time to build a sunroom, so you can be enjoying your extra space sooner. We have a variety of sunrooms, solariums, and screen rooms available! Find out what works best for you, your home, and your budget with a free in-home estimate.

3. Porch and Patio Covers

If you love the great outdoors, add a dedicated space to enjoy it! Porch and patio covers add value to your home while giving you a shaded area to relax and entertain. If you decide to add one of these to your home, deeply consider the amount of space needed. Factor enough space to entertain, set up a table and some chairs, use a grill, etc. If there is an existing porch or covered patio space, consider enclosing it with either a screen room or sunroom, which can increase your home’s value and help protect guests from insects. Patio Enclosures will custom design and make an enclosure that is just right for you and your home. Adding a porch or patio cover is often a project best left to the professionals. These additions can put additional strain on your home’s foundation, and you should at least consult a contractor before starting your project.
