16×20 Shed Uses

16×20 sheds give you an abundant amount of space and there are so many things you can do with all that space. Large item storage, recreation, active use, vehicle storage and more. Long items that typically don’t fit a lot of shed will fit in this one. For example, canoes, Kayaks, long ladders, etc. Also consider adding a loft for overhead storage so you have plenty of floor space for cars, ATV’s and tractors. If you wanted to start a small business right in your backyard, you could do it with a shed of this size. If you wanted to collect and re-build small sailboats, a shed of this size would be a great choice. If you wanted to build custom motorcycles, this is a great size for an application like that. You could set up several large construction tools like a table saw, band saw or drill press to make a shed of this size a highly functional workshop.

Will a 16×20 Shed Fit in my Yard?

Clearly a shed of this size is best for large properties. When you consider the size of the shed, plus an additional 4 feet to all sides for ease of movement the footprint is substantial. But if you have a large yard, it’s not an issue. Some things to consider with a 16 by 20 shed is where to place it in your yard and lighting. For placement, the back of a property is typically a good location as that provides ease of access to the door, and this location is less disruptive to the overall property flow. For lighting, a shed of this length can get somewhat dark towards the back. You may want to add windows or skylights for ease of locating stored items or for active work within the space.
