Cleaning your shed interior

We understand that it is very hard to keep your garden shed spotless throughout its lifespan. After all, there are many garden tools that are bound to get dirty and are stored in your shed interior. But if you have the time, thoroughly cleaning each before putting them back in your shed means that minimal debris will be scattered on the floor, providing a much cleaner environment. If you’re looking to clean the walls and floors of your shed interior that have fallen victim to a lot of grime over the years, we recommend that you scrub your walls thoroughly with a standard cleaning solution such as dish soap and water. A rag should be able to remove dirt and debris easily, with a harder scrub able to tackle any stubborn mess. You will then want to tackle the floor, which is undoubtedly going to suffer from mess due to foot traffic and mess from the items stored inside. Here you will want to sweep all of the dirt present and collect it with a dustpan and brush. Again, for harder to tackle mess you will want to use a cleaning solution and soapy water to help eliminate.

It is important to note the longer that you leave your shed interior dirty, the higher risk of mildew build up which can result in mould that destroys wood over the years. This puts a significant reduction on your shed’s lifespan, and who wants that?

Cleaning the outside of your shed

As well as cleaning the inside, you will regularly want to keep on top of the outside of your shed, as this can suffer the same fate as the interior wood due to being exposed to the elements outdoors. It also helps your shed to look bright, vibrant, and good as new for longer, making it more appealing for both yourself and any visitors that enter your garden. You could use a similar method of scrubbing until your heart is content to clean the exterior, but if that seems like too much of an arduous task then a hosepipe will suffice. Be careful not to put too much pressure on the wood, as the paint can chip, and your shed can become easily damaged. This should remove the majority of the dirt that has accumulated on your shed over time. We also recommend that you clean your windows by hand, as, similar to the wood, too much pressure can break your glass. Washing them inside and out will add to the fresh feeling that your garden office shed hasn’t experienced in a while. Again, standard washing up detergent and water should do the trick here.

Removing mould in your shed
