12×16 Sheds Most Common Uses

At 192 sq. ft. this would be classified as a large shed. The 16’ of depth gives you a good amount of room for long items like kayaks, canoes, long ladders, etc. If you are a woodworker or craftsman this is a really good size. You will have room to store materials and tools, yet there is still plenty of room to use as working space. Large machinery like band saws, drill pressed, table saws will fit nicely in a shed of this size. If you are a collector, this shed gives you an ideal amount of space to store your treasures. Multiple bicycles, motorcycles or ATV’s will fit in this shed and the extra wide double-door will provide easy entry and exit. If you plan to store vehicles we recommend you add a ramp as an accessory to your shed purchase. ‘Makers’ can really tweak and invent in a 12×16 shed with this luxury of space. Your shed will be your place to bring your dreams and ideas into the world.

Will a 12×16 Shed Fit in My Yard?

That’s an important question. First, consider that in addition to the dimensions of the shed you need to add a minimum of 3 feet of space to all sides for ease of passage. With a shed this long you may want to consider adding additional windows or skylights so you have the right amount of natural light to access stored items or work inside the shed. With a shed of this size it often works well to place it at the back corner of your property. With a shed that has more depth versus width, you will also want to consider the items you’d like to store within the floor space. You will want to leave room in-between items so you can easily pass through the items to access the very back of the shed. Need additional assistance setting up your yard for a 12 by 16 shed?
