How much can you fit in a 10x20 shed?

200 square feet A 10×20 shed is large enough to store anything. Okay, maybe not anything, but you get the gist. 200 square feet gives you the flexibility to store recreational vehicles such as 4 wheelers, snowmobiles, and riding lawnmowers. There will also be room for patio furniture, lawn care equipment, and even mechanical supplies.

Is a 10×20 Shed Right For You?

When shopping around for a shed, the size is clearly the main topic of discussion (other than style). The size of the shed is important for several reasons. First, there may be local zoning laws that affect the size of outbuildings allowed on your property. Second, you obviously don’t want to invest in a shed that’s too much larger than the things you need to store. Extra-large sheds take up valuable backyard space and, of course, cost more. So, let’s break this down. At 200 square feet, is a 10×20 shed too big or too small for you? Well, it depends on what your main planned usage is. (I know, that’s a vague answer!) Do you plan on using it for storage or is this going to be your next man cave, she shed, or your kid’s playhouse? 10×20 shed is a fairly large size and there are many options when it comes to choosing the interior layout. It might be a good idea to get out a tape measure and figure out the size of some of the main items you plan to place in your shed. Then, you can create a scale drawing that will give a pretty good idea of whether a 10×20 shed will fit your needs

So, assuming that your backyard is large enough, and you decide that the 10×20 shed is right for you, what’s next?

Get Legal

You may need to obtain a shed permit before you can purchase a storage building. To do so, you must contact your local county or city zoning department to determine code requirements you must follow for sheds. Once you have received the permit for your 10×20 shed, you may begin with the site preparation. If you’d rather not prep the site yourself, we can provide cement blocks for an additional charge at the time of delivery.
