This grade of plywood is often called “shop-grade” plywood, and it is the most affordable plywood. You will find it easier to bend and break than plywood with more layers. Thickness

Another feature of plywood is its flexibility, or shear strength. When plywood is used as sheathing on a home (it is typically placed over two-by-four studs on the exterior walls of a home), it must be able to resist cracking during settlement. For that purpose, you would use exterior grade 3/4- or 5/8-inch fir plywood because it has that kind of flexibility. Also, the plywood sheathing helps add considerable strength and stability to the framing. The shear strength of fir plywood is unparalleled to any other building material.
