Marine Grade Plywood Details

Marine plywood is a hard-wearing wood for use in humid or wet areas. As standard, we offer our Marine plywood in a high-quality BB/BB grade, as this is a well-suited, exceptional sheet for humid and wet environments such as gardens, bathrooms and parks. Our marine plywood sheets are built with a negligible core gap that it reduces any likelihood of water getting trapped between the layers. This provides a strong and stable glue board for extra strength as it prevets expansion or rotting that could otherwise lower the integrity of the sheet. We construct our Marine plywood by glueing marine veneers with a negligible gap between each veneer, creating a hardwearing sheet that is also light and malleable. Comparably, this glued plywood sheet is a lighter and cheaper alternative to pure solid wood. Traditionally marine plywood sheets lend themselves for use in decorative projects or in furniture such as an outdoor table, or in elements where moisture content may be of concern. Marine ply has a smooth surface that’s ideal for staining and lacquering, but can be equally as beautiful without any finishing applications to highlight the clean, blemish-free wood. However, as our marine plywood is specialised for moisture intense environments it does not require finishing for protection against moisture. All of our plywoods can be cut, allowing for various designs and finishes. The thinner sheets of ply are easy to work with and can be cut, routed and assembled easily as they’re light and easy to manoeuvre. On the other hand, our thicker marine plywood sheets, such as our 18mm marine plywood, also provide fantastic load-bearing properties, giving stability and strength to any project as well as moisture-resistant properties. We provide all plywood sheets in a wide variety of thicknesses that can be cut to any shape or size to suit your needs. If you are unsure about what specific thickness you will need, get in contact and we can be sure to assist you.

Key Features of Marine Plywood

Versatile

We construct our Marine plywood by glueing marine veneers with a negligible gap between each veneer, creating a hardwearing sheet that is also light and malleable. Comparably, this glued plywood sheet is a lighter and cheaper alternative to pure solid wood.

Malleable

Marine ply has a smooth surface that’s ideal for painting, staining, and lacquering, but can be equally stunning without any finishing applications to highlight the clean, blemish-free wood. When used without finishing, our marine plywoods are still fully capable of protection against moisture.

Water-Resistant

Built with a negligible core gap, our marine plywood sheets reduce the likelihood of water getting trapped between the layers. This provides a strong and stable glue board for extra strength as it prevets expansion or rotting that could otherwise lower the integrity of the sheet.

Inexpensive

Compared to a solid piece of water-resistant wood of the same size, our marine plywood works out as an inexpensive solution yet delivers the same desired aesthetic and properties.

Customisable

All of our marine plywood sheets are perfectly easy to machine and cut, allowing us to customise your sheet to fit any requirements that you require.

Our TV mounting experts often get asked this question – Can a TV be too heavy to mount on a wall – The answer is NO. There are brackets for all TV sizes and weight. However, the wall that you are planning on mounting your TV on, may not be strong enough to hold it. Which is why it is best you have an expert assess your wall and complete the job professionally. Wall Mounting a TV can go horribly wrong in inexperienced hands, resulting in damage to walls, the new TV, electrical cables and often people! There are so many different types of brackets from flush wall mount to swivel to ceiling mounted, so it’s best to speak with your local expert first for optimum placement and the best bracket to suit your needs. Steve from Jim’s Antennas in Heathmont mounted a 75” TV for a customer who had just moved into a new home. He concealed the Samsung one connect cable in the cavity, tuned the TV and made sure that the Wi-Fi was connected. For this job Steve supplied and installed a Selby Bracket – these high quality brackets provide security and durability, and give your flat screen or monitor the showcase it deserves. Some mounts have tilting abililties, such as swivel mounts, to provide multiple viewing angles. Our team can help you decide which bracket will be the best for your TV and wall. If you have a large TV that you would like to mount to the wall, big or small, give your local Jim’s Antennas expert a call on 131 546 or book a free onsite no obligation quote today.
