While scouting for good fenestration solutions in the market, you have probably come across uPVC windows. An immensely popular solution, this genre of windows has become synonymous with thermal insulation, durability, and heightened security.

What are UPVC windows?

UPVC stands for un-plasticised polyvinyl chloride, a material known for its low maintenance and robustness. It gained immense popularity in the home improvement space, becoming an alternative to the conventional timber (painted) windows. UPVC’s benefits include high resistance to chemicals, water oxidisation and sunlight, besides being ideal for double-glazed windows. UPVC windows are those fabricated from the material, ensuring lower maintenance, affordability and superior insulation.

Which is better, aluminium or uPVC for windows?

uPVC windows offer superior thermal insulation and rust-free operation. They ensure a higher security level with multi-point locking systems and last for at least 2-3 decades. Aluminium windows are recyclable, making them sustainable and environment-friendly. They also last for a long time. But, their thermal insulation quotient is not as good as a uPVC window, leading to lower energy efficiency. Aluminium windows also require higher maintenance, rattle during strong winds and experience wear and tear of the paint over time. These windows are also vulnerable to corrosion.

PVC Vs UPVC windows

uPVC and PVC have a sole difference; the latter has phthalates and BPA chemicals, enhancing its overall flexibility. The ‘u’ in the former stands for un-plasticised and is often known as rigid plastic. PVC does not have as much durability as uPVC, although it is more flexible and softer than uPVC. Besides, uPVC is a more preferred material for fabricating windows and doors as the chemical composition of PVC is not approved everywhere.

How to clean UPVC windows?

Mix a cup of vinegar with four cups of hot water before pouring the entire mixture into a sprayer. This is sprayed onto the uPVC window. You will have to keep it standing for about 10 minutes. Then use a dry and clean cloth, which is also smooth, for wiping the same and ensuring the removal of extra liquids. Do not use any abrasive cleanser or cream for the purpose.

Does grey uPVC fade?

4.1. Do spray painted Grey uPVC windows fade? Modern uPVC units are manufactured so that the colour is diffused into the actual uPVC, making the windows highly resistant to fading. However, some noticeable fading can occur after five years.

When you choose to spray paint your uPVC windows instead of replacing them, you WILL NOT be paying any extra at all for choosing Grey, or any colour for that matter. Rather, you will have the choice of an array of colours and three finishes, gloss, satin or matt. If you cannot find the colour you are looking for on the RAL colour chart, then we can colour match and create a unique shade just for you. With our state of the art equipment, specially formulated paints and carefully honed techniques, we will work as discreetly and as efficiently as possible – without ever compromising on quality. This is why it is always recommended that you enlist in the services of our professional spray painters rather than taking on this project yourself. Once we have completed our work your uPVC windows will look just as flawless as they did on the day they were first installed. You will not be able to tell that they were once white and have been spray painted.
