Read More »Like container gardening, the main drawback of raised garden beds is the up-front cost. The bed frames can be costly, and so can filling them with soil. Make sure you’re ready for raised beds and make the investment in really good raised garden bed structures. If you don’t yet have an existing garden, and you’d like to invest a bit of time and money into getting a good start, I would recommend building a couple of raised beds to start your garden. If you are building new raised beds, be sure to situate your beds in an easily accessible area with favorable growing conditions (sunlight, wind protection, access to water, et cetera). You may wish to try out small portable containers in various areas of your yard before deciding on the final spot for your raised beds.
