Metal garden shed questions

Q: What size metal shed do I need for my garden?

A: The size of your garden building will depend on the amount of space available. From experience, we know that the storage space a garden shed provides will always be used, so buy the biggest shed you can afford as long as it fits comfortably in the space available. At Asgard, we offer a wide range of sizes to suit every space. If you are replacing an existing shed, you should consider whether to have the same size again or perhaps larger. You should also consider whether your shed will be used regularly, will require easy access, single or double doors and a ramp access. Compare the shed sizes available from Asgard in this shed sizes comparison table.

Q: Where should I locate my garden shed?

A: Ideally your garden shed should have a clear space which is slightly larger than the unit itself and that the entrance will not be restricted. This ensures easy access for both installation and future maintenance. You should also cut back or remove any nearby shrubs and trees and remember to allow for future growth. Read the article here to help you decide where to locate your Asgard metal shed.

Q: What type of base is suitable for my shed?

A: All sheds need a substantial base. The base should be solid, square, flat and level to ensure the stability of your shed. We recommend using paving slabs, tarmac or concrete. A solid concrete base is more permanent and provides an excellent base for a metal shed. Paving slabs are another practical and cost effective option, especially for a smaller shed. Remember that extra time spent preparing a good base is normally repaid with time saved later on during the installation Read the article on building a base for your Shed.

Q. Do metal sheds suffer from condensation?

A. A metal shed may be susceptible to excess dampness and condensation without adequate planning and preparation. However, the Asgrd metal garden sheds have an integral ventilation system in the roof minimizes the build up of condensation inside the unit, keeping your equipment dry and safe. If the shed bases are not constructed properly, a damp base will almost certainly cause condensation to form so always ensure that the concrete or slab base is of the correct size i.e. slightly larger than the shed base. We also advise that the edges of the base should be towelled smooth and slightly angled down towards the edge so that water seepage does not occur. Another important point is to make sure there are no plants or bushes close to the unit which may cause moisture to enter the metal shed.
