What is the best insulation for sheds?

The best insulation for a shed is on that uses a reflective insulation with a rigid insulation. This insulation will not sag, is easily cut to size, and is easily joined using insulation tape. Foilboard® recommends Green 20, the 20mm Foilboard® as a minimum to span the distance between purlins for most sheds.

Shed Insulation

Shed Insulation Supplier & Manufacturer in Australia

The Australian shed is a place where we spend many hours working on a project, working out or working from your home office. By insulating your shed, you can increase the comfort of your work space and reduce the energy used to heat or cool. Shed insulation will increase the usefulness of your shed. It will keep your shed, garden shed, workshop, office or garage cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, making it more comfortable and convenient for all your shed activities.

Shed ceiling insulation

Shed Insulation is critical for the ceiling. A large portion of the heat is absorbed by the metal roofing and is then radiated internally increasing the temperature. By installing shed insulation to the shed roof the transfer of heat is slowed by reflecting the radiant heat away. Foilboard® reflects up to 97% of radiant heat acting as a radiant barrier which can reduce the temperature in the shed by up to 10 degrees. Foilboard® also reduces the speed of transfer of heat by conduction by creating a thermal break by covering the metal purlins along with a sealed air cavity that increases insulation performance. The best type of insulation for a shed roof is rigid panel insulation such as Foilboard®. The product will not sag and does not need to be joined on a purlin, reducing waste. Installed with the silver side facing the interior of the garage will leave the shed with a great looking finish that will brighten your workspace.

Shed Door Insulation

Shed doors are often overlooked for insulation. Anywhere that is left uninsulated will make a large difference to the comfort level of the garage or shed. Using shed door insulation will reduce the radiant heat keeping the shed at optimum temperature levels to keep you motivated to get your project done.

Shed Floor

Shed floors can be insulated before the concrete is poured. Planning ahead will ensure the shed can be insulated and be the most thermally efficient it can be. Expanded Polystyrene is an excellent material that will insulate the floor by being encased in the concrete when poured. Sheds floors can be retrofitted insulation by installing a floor on battens and fitting the insulation between th e battens. Sheds that are constructed on stumps can be retrofitted insulation. Foilboard® Rigid Panel insulation is a perfect solution as it will not sag and completely seals the floor and protects from any moisture migration.

Shed Insulation for a wall

Like shed ceilings the wall is a large area that is capable of raising temperatures in your shed work space. Using Foilboard® as shed wall insulation will improve the comfort by reducing the transfer of heat by radiation, conduction and convection. Foilboard® Rigid panel insulation will not sag so can be placed between the wall girts allowing for the wall to be internally cladded.

What is Shed Insulation?

Foilboard® Shed insulation is a rigid sheet of EPS laminated on both sides with Aluminium foil. One side is antiglare green to protect the eyes for those installs that are outside in the sun light and the other side silver. Both sides work as radiant barriers, that is it reflects away heat. The Expanded Polystyrene core reduces the transfer by conduction and the two material together forming a tight seal reduce heat transfer by convection, which is the moving of air between the inside and outside of the shed.
