Creating 2D Designs with LayOut

It’s genuinely easy to create 2D drawings using LayOut. Here’s how to section a model, for example, a model of a house, create a ‘plan’, access the ‘plan’ scene in LayOut, and create a floor plan view ready for annotation. Set your view to ‘parallel Projection’ in the Camera menu to create a straight-on view for the plan Go to ‘Window’ and pick the Scenes console – you can hide the Section Plane in your LayOut document by opening the window in SketchUp then editing the scene’s default style

Click the ‘+’ button to create a scene called ‘Plan’

Access your SketchUp model in LayOut using File > Insert

Right-click on the SketchUp window and choose ‘Scenes: PLAN’

Create a top view of your model

Centre it on your screen

Click ‘add’ to create a scene showing the view you’ve set up

Rename it, for example ‘floor plan’

Take a section cut through the building so you can see the doors and windows – go to the large tool set or the tools section plane then add a section plane

Please Note: These guides were made to work in conjunction with the Open Access Lab printers. They will be similar steps, however, the process varies a bit by printer model. In the Microsoft Office 365 Word Application click File at the top left of the screen.

Under More settings change the number of Pages per sheet.

Click the Office button in the top right of your Office 2007 window. For Office 2010 or 2013, click the File tab.

Select Print in the drop-down menu.

To print more than one page per sheet, set the desired number of pages in the drop-down menu. Please Note: While in Office for Mac, the Menu Bar at the top of the screen will have options related to Office. To print, click File > Print. You can also press ⌘ + P on your keyboard to print. A Print dialogue box will appear. Click on the drop down menu that says Copies & Pages.

From the menu, select Layout.

Click the drop-down menu next to Pages per Sheet.

Choose the number of pages desired from the list. Then click Print.
