Thermablok® Aerogel is a revolutionary advancement in thermal technology offering the thinnest insulation available to prevent thermal and cold bridging. Classed as a Super Insulation, Aerogel has the highest insulation value of any known material with the lowest thermal conductivity value of any solid (0.015W/mK). Available in easy to use solutions for applications in all sectors including building and construction, refurbishments and energy efficiency retrofits. The thinnest and easiest solution to insulate hard to treat areas, especially where space is at a premium and where critical tolerances have to be achieved. A thermal bridge (sometimes referred to as thermal bridging, a cold bridge or thermal bypass) describes a situation in a building where there is a direct connection between the inside and outside through one or more elements that are more thermally conductive than the rest of the building envelope. All types of thermal bridging or cold bridging can be eliminated with our super thin, super insulation properties of Thermablok Aerogel to save valuable space. Within historic, period and listed buildings with architectural detailing, it offers a solution for an otherwise impossible area to insulate, with minimum effect on character. Thermablok Aerogel works by breaking this thermal bridging link whilst being totally breathable, ensuring a healthy, durable working building with a natural ability to repel liquid (hydrophobicity) whilst allowing the passage and release of moisture vapour and does not rely on a vacuum or heavy molecular gases to insulate. Thermablok Aerogel, being hydrophobic, is not affected by moisture or age, and provides major energy savings for the life of the building. A single 10mm thickness of Thermablok Aerogel Insulation Blanket increases the insulation factor of a standard solid wall construction by up to 67% (guidance only as dependant of actual substrate on to which attached).
