Paolo Tiramani is an American industrial designer.[1][2] He is the CEO and majority shareholder of construction technology company Boxabl, and also CEO of technology investment fund 500 Group Inc.[3]

Early life and education [ edit ]

Tiramani was born in Milan, Italy, and formally schooled in London, England.[citation needed] He earned degrees in mechanical engineering and industrial design from London art school Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.[citation needed]

Career [ edit ]

In 1986, Tiramani founded investment technology company 500 Group in Connecticut, to monetize some of the reported 155 patent filings he held in the United States and Europe.[4][3][5] One early project was the sale of the rights to develop a rolling workshop tool storage unit to American toolmaker Stanley Black & Decker.[3] In 2014, Tiramani won a Bronze A' Design Award in the Milan, Italy-based A' Design Award and Competition, for his SuperCar System customer-configurable automotive system.[1] In 2016, a USA Today feature reporting on then-candidate Donald Trump's limited support from tech businesses quoted Tiramani as supporting policies to create small business tech jobs for US workers.[6] Later in 2016, Tiramani moved to Las Vegas.[7] In 2017, he moved 500 Group to North Las Vegas from Connecticut, reportedly for its more entrepreneurial business climate and lower taxes.[3] The first company Tiramani launched under 500 Group was Supercar System, a modular performance automotive system for the powersports market, based on Tiramani's A' Design award-winning project.[3] The company built a 20,000-square-foot R&D facility at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to develop the system, and test prototypes.[3]

Boxabl [ edit ]

Later in 2017, Tiramani self-funded and launched his second 500 Group company, Boxabl, a manufacturer of $50,000 modular homes that fold up small enough to ship without a special permit, and can be assembled on site in under an hour.[2] The modular design was based on technology patented by Tiramani, along with technology co-patented by Boxabl Senior Engineer Kyle Denman.[8][9] Tiramani's son Galiano Tiramani was Boxabl's co-founder.[10] In July 2021, Tiramani moved Boxabl into a 170,000 square foot headquarters in North Las Vegas.[11] A second factory was under construction as of August 2022, and the company reportedly had a wait list of over 130,000 customers.[7]
