The Amish consider curtains to be decoration and don't decorate any portion of their homes, but we did notice that they appear to have simple blinds at the window. When we looked into it further we found that they did often have green blinds, made themselves, from natural materials.

We’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have. There have been a number of programmes in recent months that have peered into the private lives of the world’s Amish communities. BBC 2 most recently aired ‘Amish, A Secret Life’, Channel 4 looked at ‘The World’s Squarest Teenagers’, and also gave us the experience of ‘Living with the Amish’ late in 2011. Being the keen nosed designers that we are here at Appeal Shading, we were fascinated to see inside the homes of this reserved community. We looked at their minimal decoration and found ourselves wondering what they would make of the vast selection of window blinds and shading that we have here. The Amish consider curtains to be decoration and don’t decorate any portion of their homes, but we did notice that they appear to have simple blinds at the window. When we looked into it further we found that they did often have green blinds, made themselves, from natural materials. In that case at Appeal Shading we aren’t that different to the Amish! We also make our own blinds, in fact over 50,000 blinds annually and many of them are made from natural products. However, we don’t skimp on design, we can supply beautiful conservatory blinds, architectural blinds and window shutters and even Original French Pinoleum’ blinds that can be operated manually or at the touch of a button using the Appeal PowerDrive™ remote control system – something we know will certainly not interest the Amish. If you’d like to find out more about Appeal Home Shading, please do not hesitate to call us on (or 0044 117 963 7734 from outside the UK).

Learn More »Loafing sheds, also referred to as run-in sheds, are simply small barns designed to protect your livestock, and should be built with the same construction techniques as any other well-built shed to ensure a strong structure that will withstand the effects of nature and animals.
Are your cattle one of your main sources of income? Or do you regard your horses as members of the family? Then a loafing shed would be a wise investment. A loafing shed is a shelter that is specifically designed to house animals and provides protection from wind, rain, sun and other elements. It also makes a great storage area for tack and other supplies. Horse shelters date back as far as the Egyptians, who drew stables on royal tombs and noted their existence in royal inscriptions. Similarly, the Hebrew bible mentions the famous stables of King Solomon and Chinese history notes that the Emperor cared for and sheltered a heard of royal horses. Loafing sheds, also referred to as run-in sheds, are simply small barns designed to protect your livestock, and should be built with the same construction techniques as any other well-built shed to ensure a strong structure that will withstand the effects of nature and animals. At TUFF SHED, our loafing shed is a multi-purpose building, which incorporates the same materials and craftsmanship as our standard Premier Series storage buildings. This type of building has many different applications, and can be built to virtually any specification, with as many stalls as necessary. The typical layout for the loafing shed includes one enclosed section, fashioned after the Premier Series Tall Ranch or Tall Barn, and one or more bays that have a dirt floor and are open on one side. And our loafing shed is also available with Premier PRO Series features.
When it comes to your budget, a metal shed is going to be more affordable than a wooden alternative. There are a couple of reasons for this lower...
