There are many forms, positions and habits when it comes to sleep, but… are you one of those who takes feet out of the sheets when does heat? If the answer is YESPay attention to this article because it will surely interest you.

WHY DO WE TAKE OUR FEET OUT OF THE SHEETS AT BED TIME?

To get a proper rest during the dream, especially in the hottest months, the body should drop the body temperature a few degrees. According to research published in "Aviation, Space and Environmental Medicine": Cooling the feet and hands is a very effective way to lower the total body temperature, which facilitates this comfort and rest in a faster way. Being covered under the blanket, when we begin to feel warm, the body reacts by activating mechanisms through the feet to lower said temperature that prevents us from falling asleep. Among these mechanisms we can highlight the thermoreceptors of the soles of the feet, which are found in the skin in greater quantity than in other areas of the body. Within these thermoreceptors, we have on the one hand the Ruffini corpuscles that detect the hot, and on the other the Krause corpuscles who do the same with him cold. This external temperature information reaches the brain (Hypothalamus) for its activation, with the aim of refresh the body and expel excess accumulated heat. The feet function as a thermostat of the body, due to the amount of these sensitive receptors that we accumulate in them.

TO SLEEP, WITH OR WITHOUT SOCKS?

From what we have commented in the previous point, it can be said that it is convenient not wearing socks to sleep in hot months, since if we use them we hinder this natural thermoregulation mechanism of the body.

Having slightly cold feet promotes rest and helps you fall asleep.
