Step 1: Remove the Shelf

The first step to fixing your floating shelf is to remove everything on top of it. Take everything from your shelf and store it where you can find it. Label the storage container so that you know it contains these items. Then, remove the shelf from the wall. You might need to remove the screws securing it in place, but you probably won’t need to remove the supports themselves.

Step 2: Weight the Shelf

Then, place the shelf upside down on a solid surface with the sag pointing upward. Place heavy items or weights on the sag until gravity forces the shelf to return to its original shape.
